Territory Management
Sometimes the characters will have to explore new lands. Those lands are almost always going to be mist affected lands. Mist nodes will grow in areas that are not well protected, and with that, the mist creatures will appear.
To make that territory relatively safer, the adventurers will need to destroy those Mist Nodes. If the mist nodes are destroyed, then most of the mist creatures will retreat with the mists.
Once the lands are cleared of the nodes, they will need to be repaired. The mist creatures do not make for very good land owners it would seem. Thus it falls to the adventurers to bring the lands back to a usable condition.
Repairing the Land costs 15 silver.
Repaired land can then be built upon. And doesn't have any upkeep costs. But a land that doesn't have any improvements built on it risk being stolen by Bandits, Brigands and even new mist nodes could start to grow on the land. Roads can help improve trade gains. Barracks will help to train soldiers that can help protect those roads from bandits. Improving the settlement size allows more people to live there which increases trade. And if there happens to be some kind of mine on that land, those can be improved to increase trade as well.
It is important to note that returns on those investments won't always be there between events. Time between the events, weather, and the actions of the adventurers will all have an effect. There are other things that are out of the control of the adventurers that will have an effect on those returns as well.
